Courses
MoHo periodically organizes training courses for geologists, engineers, architects and other technical professions at the headquarter in Venice (Italy). The courses are normally characterized by a specialized cutting, more than popular, and in order to increase teaching effectiveness are typically for up to 20 people per class. Courses/training can be provided also in other countries, on demand.
At this link you can find the list of webinars offered in 2021 and 2023. These courses, together with the course materials and the self-assessment test, can now be purchased and viewed online.
The purchase of Tromino , SoilSpy, HeeVee includes the related online courses, which allow the user to learn the skills necessary to acquire, process, and interpret survey data.
November 2019 (Makati City, Philippines)
Passive Seismic Conference – Makati City, Philippines
A passive seismic conference has been held in partnership with our local representative, Wings Technology Enterprise.
The conference aimed to impart significant knowledge on the passive seismic technique and the uses of this geophysical exploration method in the geological and civil engineering industries. The global geological context of the Philippines is very varied and the country is subjected to many natural hazards (earthquakes, landslide …). The use of our instruments could obviously be of great help for the subsoils characterization but also for monitoring their cities which are under permanent construction.
September 2019
Nuclear Power Institute of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission
We hosted a delegation of scientists and technicians from Ghana for a training course on our instruments for geophysical exploration. A few days of technical seminars, field surveys and also some leisure time in the beautiful town of Venice.
June 2019
Orange Lamp (Beijing) at MoHo
Orange Lamp (Beijing) is a new MoHo representative in China. Orange Lamp received a specific training course on all MoHo instruments at our headquarter in Venice (Italy) and is now ready to start working with us!

TROMINO® class
TROMINO® class organized by Exploration Instruments in Harrisburg (PA, USA)
Passive seismic methods: Theory and main applications (2h)
The characteristics of seismic noise have been studied since long ago (the first studies by Ben Gutenberg are dated 1950, as an example). However, the practical applications of these studies are more recent. In the first part of the seminar we will review the history of the so-called passive-seismic approches and their actual use and interpretation in the geological and civil engineering practice. We will process some data by using the software Grilla.
HVSR and dispersion complementarity + Field tests (3h)
A variety of multichannel active and passive seismic techniques (SASW, MASW, ReMiTM, SPAC, ESAC etc.) aim at retrieving the surface-wave dispersion curve of the subsoil. This is closely linked to the shear wave velocity profile (Vs) and has therefore important geotechnical applications. In the second part of the seminar we review the common ideas at the basis of these techniques, the difference and the advantages/disadavantages of all of them.
Finally, we will review the huge benefits deriving from the combined use of the single station and the multichannel approaches.
November 2018
Identificación de parámetros de suelo
From November 4th to November 12th 2018 MoHo will be in Chile, at the Universidad Andrés Bello, at the IDIEM Universidad de Chile and at some private companies, for some workshops and trainings on the single station and multichannel seismic techniques dedicated to the dynamic characterization of soils and structures in seismic prone areas and beyond.

HVSR : Historique, Théorie et principales applications
QUEBEC (CANADA) – NOV. 17th 2017: Campus of the Laval University: Open course addressed to both students and professionals [in French].

SURFACE WAVE SEISMIC METHODS: practical courses in Perth (Australia)
PERTH (AUSTRALIA) – OCT. 12-13th 2017: a two-day introduction on surface wave seismic methods has been held in Perth (Australia). The course introduced the basic principles of the modern active and passive, single-station and multichannel seismic methods.

Near surface passive seismic surveying: Notes on the 2016 ASEG-AIG-PESA conference workshop
A one day workshop on ‘Near surface passive seismic surveying for mineral exploration, environmental and engineering applications’ was presented on the Saturday before the 2016 ASEGAIG-PESA conference and was organised by Jayson Meyers and Chris Wijns.
A summary of the day can be found in the attachment.

Near surface passive seismic surveying for mineral exploration, environmental and engineering applications
A workshop entirely devoted to the single-station passive method for the mining prospection was organized by the Australian MoHo’s distributor (Resource Potentials) and MoHo within the 25th ASEG-PESA-AIG conference (http://www.conference.aseg.org.au/workshops.html#w8).
The course was a nice opportunity to discuss successful applications and problems of the H/V prospection to the mining field in terms of, e.g., the determination of the regolith thickness.
